If Olympians and professionals can find their joy under immense pressure, you can too!

Running without fear is not the same thing as running with joy.

Running without fear is often achieved by suppressing your system. And that's not what you want in high performance.

But most handlers don't think of joy as an emotion that equates to high performance.

They think anything resembling joy is loosey-goosey and unfocused.

They think of elite competition as a do-or-die, terrifying pressure cooker, something incredibly serious with no room for fun or laughter...or joy.

But science—and experience—proves something different.

Joy shifts your neurology. It lets you access all your boundless energy and enthusiasm. It improves your movement, focus and decision-making. Pressure becomes non-existent, or at least something far less scary.

Joy elevates your performance.

Because great performance isn't just about skill. It's artistic.

It's the difference between proving yourself and expressing yourself.

Performance with joy can still be intense, even look serious on the surface, but there is a freedom of expression, a smoothness, an immersive focus, an unbridled openness to it, that invites other people in because they feel the passion you have for what you are doing.

These days, when I think of joy, of *bring it on*, of athletes that invite people into their joy, I think of the incredible tennis phenom, Carlos Alcaraz, or sassy Alyssa Liu in figure skating, or Team Canada Speed Skating Women's Team Pursuit.

Joy requires authenticity, getting the ego out of it, allowing yourself to be real, alive, vulnerable.

But most handlers are trying to avoid being vulnerable. So instead they try to control too tightly. They hold back just that tiny bit.

Yes, it is possible to do reasonably well when you are uptight and controlled—up to a point. But that control usually cracks when it matters the most. Because when it matters most is when you are most vulnerable.

High performers experiment, they keep pushing envelopes to be better—because they are passionate about what they do. There is joy in the pursuit. It does make them vulnerable. It also makes them great.

I have also been on both sides of this as a competitor and as a coach working with performers. And I can help you reconnect to your joy.

I want you to choose joy, not simply because you don't want to be scared, but because you want to embrace what you do.

In two 1-hour calls, you will build a mini-system (based on science and decades of elite competing and coaching experience) that helps you perform with joy instead of fear, with enthusiasm instead of expectation.

Run joyful, not scared.

Focus on what you want...

... not what you don't want. Instead of trying "not to be nervous", or "not to fail", learn how to choose joy with the accompanying performance benefits of better focus, decision-making and execution. Choosing joy is a skill, one you have to practice.

Joy as fuel

Joy, fun, passion, connection. When you have a process to connect with your joy under any conditions, fear doesn't take root. You are more resilient, energized and courageous.

Authentic connection

When you are performing from joy, you are less self-absorbed and more connected to the performance—and to your dog. (And your dog responds accordingly. 😊)

"On trial day, great mindset can't fix poor training, but a poor mindset can absolutely destroy great training."

— Kathy Keats

YOUR COACH.

I'm Kathy Keats. I've been around elite sport most of my life as a competitor and coach, won world and national championships in different disciplines (basketball, dog agility, sheepdog trialing).

...and had to work hard for all my success.

I've dealt with adversity from major injuries requiring potentially career-ending surgery to being nearly cut from my university team to blanking out right before my World Championship winning run.

I learned early on that the path to success was very bumpy.

I also learned it wasn't all about talent. There was a success process that could take you a long, long way.

Now, my calling is to bring my experiences from elite sport into the dog world and pass them on so you can pursue your dream goals and reach levels you never thought possible.

Here's what others have to say about Kathy's courses...

"The course exceeded my expectations, and I think it was life-changing. I am not done yet, but each lesson is enlightening. There are lots of things that you said that I wish I had learned way younger."

Geneviève M.

"I am 100% convinced that your course had a significant impact on my ability to win the NOC. Looking back, I was so focused on WHAT we were doing, I had no idea how well he was doing cumulatively. I was truly focused on performance rather than results, and it paid off big time."

Kori B.

Three years ago I made it to the finals only to basically melt in a puddle of nerves. This year, I kept to my competition mind and laid down three great runs putting me in the finals.Your voice, your ideas and your guidance were there when I stepped into the ring. I felt enough calmness and power to run the finals clean, a momentous occasion for me and all I ever wanted to accomplish. I have taken my power back and feel happy, grateful and accomplished in a way that has nothing to do with agility.

Marianne D.

"I enrolled in the course to help me with the nerves and mental challenges that I was facing as I began entering the jumping trials. Little did I know that the lessons learned would help me with the challenges that I would face at work and in my personal life. I was able to apply what I was learning in real time and come through some difficult times. I surprised myself with the 'mental toughness' I exhibited. It's not to say I didn't waiver, and I did have to go back and revisit some of the lessons - but that is the beauty of having all the materials to do so. I did really appreciate this flexibility. Thanks so much Kathy. I really needed to look inside myself to be able to make a change."

Meg P.

"This course is great. It has helped me in my perspective of agility, stimulated my thinking and analytical skills. The feedback has been very helpful and timely."

Sheila E.

"I love this course. I use the lessons and your wisdom in all parts of my life not just agility. It is helping me grow in confidence and helping me to identify a clearer picture of my goals and ambitions for agility."

Susan B.

"My pre trial procedure had started and I was feeling much more in control. Thank you Kathy for all your fabulous videos and generosity of spirit. Your courses have helped me so much."

Jill C.

"I have absolutely loved your online course!!! One of the best I have ever done. It was achievable, doable and very interesting."

Jodi B.

"Just wanted to say a special thanks for your mental management... I went into AAC Nats in a totally different frame of mind from our last time and we did awesome!"

Penny N.

"I was so amazed that I had taken so much of what I have learned and was able to use it during Nationals. I am not sure which I am happiest about, that my dog and I did so well at Nationals with our runs or that I managed something I have never before been able to do. I was completely aware while I was preparing to go into the ring that I felt very differently than I had two years before in the Challenger's Round. I felt that different really for every run. "
